Illustration

Illustration is the core of Levende Streg. All our products are based on the drawn line when we have to explain subtle points or the most complex topics in a simple and understandable way.

ILLUSTRATION FOR BUSINESS

The visionary companies in the business world today have gradually taken up drawing as an important part of their communication. Because illustrations can not just show reality – it can show future, dreams and visions.

DIFFERENT STYLES

At Levende Streg we do many different forms of illustration for our customers – in many different styles.

Most often the style depends on the purpose of the illustration and what the illustration is intended to communicate. On this page you can read more about some of the different styles / genres and media.

Why you should get an illustration

100 HIGHWAYS THROUGH YOUR EYES

The human brain is constantly working to decode visual messages. In fact, we use 25% of our brain capacity to decode visual messages (while awake). This is done through an analysis and interpretation of e.g body language, posture, facial expressions or scanning the surroundings.

Our human body and brain is simply wired to have 100 highways open – through our eyes. So of course we must make use of this amazing feat – and create our communication to fit it.

This way our communication will easiest to understand for the brain. This is where corporate illustrations and videos come in.

ILLUSTRATE THE FUTURE

Illustrations are great to show future scenarios and visions – things that don’t exist yet. And illustration can create an overview and help your recipient understand and remember your message.

Studies in visual communication show that illustrations have “appeal”, create “comprehension” and “retention”.

One can understand and remember messages better when you’ve seen it visually.

GLOBAL ILLUSTRATIONS

Business illustrations are often rather polished. They are made in such a way that they can under no circumstances be misinterpreted or seen as offensive to other people.

Because most large companies today have offices – and customers – all over the world, the illustrations are created in such a way that they can be used cross cultures and social classes.

CORPORATE ILLUSTRATION

Corporate illustrations are illustrations created for companies. These illustrations most often have a specific corporate look.

At Levende Streg we receive many inquiries from customers that like our work and style because it fits well into a corporate look and into a corporate identity. We like to think that it is because our illustrations are a fine mix of minimalist, graphic and realistic style. That means that we for example can draw a certain CEO, so it looks like him or her, without it being a caricature.

what you need to know about illustration

COMIC BOOK STYLE

The comic book media is a great, highly creative and awesome way to tell your company story. We create lots of digital comic books for the web and for landing pages.

Comics are great for communicating clearly to your receiver in a new and fresh (but very corporate) way. They’re great for short messages like guidelines, etc.

PENCIL DRAWINGS

Pencil drawins are drawings created with pencils or crayons on paper. Or it can mean vector illustrations hand drawn on the computer – but looking like they were created on paper with a pencil. And by the way don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s easier (and cheaper) to draw on a computer. It’s not. In fact it’s way more challenging for most illustrators to draw on a computer. Luckily on Levende Streg we master both!

SKETCHES

A sketch is a “not quite so accurate” illustration – kind of a drawn working document.

Sketching is a great way of visualizing future plans, new buildings, a website, happenings or events. At Levende Streg we often create sketches for e.g. advertising agencies.

TECHNICAL DRAWING

A technical drawing is an illustration that communicates technical content. Often such drawings are very precise and in 3D.

Technical drawings are used for example for patent applications or specific product descriptions, thus these drawings are extremely detailed.

STORYBOARDS

A storyboard is a combination of illustrations and text and tells the story of a video.

Levende Streg creates storyboards to all our movies and animated films.

We also create storyboards for corporations or production companies to use in other movies.

VECTOR ILLUSTRATION

Vector illustrations are most often created in special software like Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop or the likes. Curves and lines in vector illustrations are made up of Bezier-curves.

Vector illustrations are scalable (bitmaps are not). That means that your drawing can be turned into a print the size of 14 football fields, it that is your request.

need a visualization?

Levende Streg can help you tell the stories of your business. We specialize in getting to know your core area and turn it into an easy-to-understand and interesting universe of drawings and animation.

Visualization is obvious to use in connection with strategy development, product development, leadership development, internal communication or other stakeholder communication. Visualization strengthens development and communication internally and externally in your company.

frequently asked questions

FAQ
  • Pricing of illustration?

The price of an illustration varies a lot and depends on the type of illustration we are talking about. There are many types of illustrations - such as. strategy visualization, caricature drawing, cartoon, pencil drawing, sketches, vector illustrations and many more.

The price of an illustration depends on the degree of detail, content, size and more.

The average price for a simple illustration is between DKK 1,000 - 4,000 + VAT.

  • How long does it take to create an illustration?

The production time for an illustration varies throughout the day - and depends entirely on what type of illustration it is, how complex the content is, and how many illustrations need to be made at once.

On average, it takes between 1-2 days to complete a simple illustration for companies, although the actual drawing time may be down to 3-6 hours.

This is of course because we are sitting with many projects already and are quite booked all the time.

The production time may well be a lot longer if we e.g. must familiarize us with long strategy documents, or in the case of illustrations for films, posters, infographics or the like.

If you want ASAP illustrations, there is an urgent fee on top of the task price.

  • The benefits of illustration?

Studies show that we humans can better remember and understand something when we see a visualization or a drawing. It's called the "drawing effect".

At the same time, illustrations create an overview, so what we look at is easier to understand. Your brain (and your recipient's brain) loves pictures and drawings.

This is also one of the reasons why animated films, comics and sketchnoting have become so popular with large companies. For it simply improves business communication significantly.

  • Which types of illustration are there?

There are an incredible number of types of drawings - everything from pencil drawings and sketches to caricature drawings, satire drawings, vector drawings, storyboards, technical drawings, blueprint drawings, humorous drawings and many other types of drawings.
