ANIMATION VIDEO WITH SING-ALONG

Levende Streg created an animation video with sing-along feature. We made the video together with KILROY and Gouda Insurance. The video addresses the number of injuries that young people experience during their travels. It also communicates how minor injuries, if unattended, can make the adventure short.

ANIMATION VIDEO WITH SING-ALONG

The video is targeted KILROY travelers, typically young people between 18-25 years. Because this target group does not like being told what to do, the idea was to use irony to get the message though. Thus we focused on all the things that could ruin their trip.

IDEA AND PROCESS

The idea was also to let a song follow the video instead of plain speak. A real challenge because that meant that the video’s success depended upon a catchy hit with the right message.

THE SONG “TRAVEL SAFE”

Together with KILROY and Gouda, we created various draft texts that slowly transformed into song lyrics. Then Karsten Dines Johansen, Sound Matters Cph, wrote the catchy melody. He basically hit home in first try, and created a great and catchy tune.

Originally, it wasn’t meant for Karsten to sing the song himself. But when we listened to the first versions, it was clear that the song fitted Karstens voice really well. As a musician Karsten Dines Johansen is known as K.D. Johansen playing in the Danish rock band SuperCharger and Strawberry Slaugtherhouse. The song also includes choirs from Kira Li Chirholm, drums by Morten Krog Helgesen and piano by Ronni Clasen.

THE VISUAL STYLE

American animation videos inspired the visual style. We created the characters, style of illustrations and graphics to match the song, and we kept colors in KILROY’s corporate colors.

To ensure that the viewer fully understood the message we added sing-along lyrics – a feature that also helps to emphasize the humor.

CAMPAIGN WITH VIDEO AND QUIZ

The video was made for the campaign “Travel Safe”, which ran in Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland and Sweden. That is why the lyrics are in English. The campaign was a joint effort between KILROY and Gouda Insurance. It contains many elements besides the video, including a quiz Levende Streg also provided input to.
